Welcome to the Winter Semester 2026/27 at Hochschule Geisenheim University

Below is an overview of the most important dates and events for your start to the winter semester:

  • the science pre-courses (maths, physics, biology and chemistry) will start on September 23, 2026. The exact times and more information are available on the website
  • the Orientation Week for all international students will run from October 13 -16, 2026 on campus  (in English - the program will be available in September, please click here)
  • October 16, 9:00 - 4:00 pm: in-person workshop on addiction prevention entitled “Are you still in control?” If you are interested, please register here
  • October 21, 2026: Start of lectures for first-semester students

More Information

Learning Platforms

The university makes use of several learning platforms and other online tools to support your studies.

HisPro allows you to view your grades and edit your personal details, such as your address – a user guide is available here (in German). Lecturers will often upload learning materials to ILIAS or Stud.IP, where you can also submit homework and other exercises (see our video guide). Within the university, Big Blue Button is used as a video conference tool, and HGU Cloud is available as a place to store files online.

Tipps for a Great Start at Uni

We want to ensure every student gets off to a flying start at Geisenheim, which is why we offer a range of preparation courses for new students

  • Check out our self-study online courses on biology, chemistry, physics and math as well as key qualifications required for all programs.
  • We also have some explanatory videos available on the different programs used at HGU
