October 18, 2025: University Sport and Charity Fun Run at the Rheingaustadion/Kellersgrube

On Saturday, October 18, the university will be hosting a special sports event as part of the Welcome Week for new students together with the Turnerschaft Geisenheim (TSG) association.

At the event, attendees can get to know the university's ultimate frisbee and basketball clubs, take part in archery offered by the TSG, and participate in a charity relay race

Currently, four teams are signed up to run 15 minutes on the relay track – every 50 meters, the baton will be passed and another donation of at least €5 added to the pot. The proceeds will go towards a good cause that will be announced at the event.

Schedule:
2 p.m.: Ultimate Frisbee, basketball and archery
                   Everyone's invited to take part!
3 p.m.: Start of the charity fun run

The teams:

  • Employees of the Geisenheim municipal administration
  • Members of the Geisenheim gymnastics club
  • Employees of Geisenheim University
  • Students at Geisenheim University

This race is not about performance, but about having fun, being together, and supporting a good cause!
In addition to the sporting events, there will of course be food and drinks provided by the Geisenheim Gymnastics Club.

We are still looking for runners! You only need nine people to form a team.
We also need volunteers to help with timekeeping, etc.

Please contact Ulrike Schneider for more information.

FC Campus Mini-Pitch Tournament

On July 2, 2025, the FC Campus mini-pitch tournament took place at the Rheingau Stadium in Geisenheim. Despite stormy weather at times and heated battles on the pitch, the event kept an exciting and playful atmosphere. The organizer, FC Campus, provided cool drinks and delicious Fleischkäswegle – meatloaf sandwiches – to keep the players going on the hottest day of the year.

The FP Schorle team put in a strong performance right from the start and fought their way confidently through the group stage and the final round. In the grand final, they faced the team “Alles für die Katz”. In a thrilling and exciting final, FP Schorle finally prevailed and secured the overall win, topping off their mini-pitch career with a title and a fitting farewell for the end of their studies.

Fair play, passion, and a great atmosphere were the theme of the day. Despite a temporary weather-related break, the spectators and teams were able to enjoy a successful day of soccer and round off the tournament with music and drinks.

Él Clásico - FC Campus vs. Weinelf
The FC Campus and Deutsche Weinelf teams

On May 7, 2025, Él Clásico returned to the Rheingau Stadium in Geisenheim. With last year's narrow penalty shootout, FC Campus almost ended the Weinelf's long winning streak, but couldn't quite keep their cool. This year's match was similarly close, with the game decided in regular time and ending 1-2 in favor of the Weinelf.

FC Campus took a 1-0 lead in the first half with a spectacular free kick from our striker Niels Biegeler. But before the break, the Weinelf equalized with a precise free kick from Marius “Dille” Dillmann (Weingut Dillmann, Geisenheim). Shortly before the half-time whistle, the Weinelf then scored the 1-2 through Christian Franzen from Bremm on the Moselle. As a result, there were several substitutions on both sides, and some trial players who had trained with the Weinelf before the Clásico were also brought on. In the end, the final score remained 1-2.

The highlight of the day was the popular third half, which featured good conversation over wine and beer. Our grill master Daniel Bercher took care of the food and drink, so that nothing stood in the way of a happy conclusion to the event. All in all, it was a very successful day – in this spirit, thank you to the Weinelf and everyone who helped out on the day. We're looking forward to the next Él Clásico!

Hat Tournament in Marburg
On April 12, 2025, Hochschule Geisenheim University's ultimate frisbee team headed to Marburg to take part in a hat tournament. In this type of tournament, all the participating players are taken from their original teams, mixed up and put into new teams for the day.

Since 'Ultimate Geisenheim' arrived in Marburg with six players and six teams were formed on the day, each team ended up with one Geisenheimer. That means we technically got first place! And second… and third… and fourth…

A big thank you goes to Marburg's 'Erdferkel' team for their fantastic organization and an all-round successful day!

Organ Donation Run 2025 – Sign Up Now! – March 30, 2025

14th Organ Donation Run by the German Society of Surgery (DGCH) in March 2025 – Join in!

Hochschule Geisenheim University is taking part in the virtual organ donation run to help raise awareness for this important topic.
The main aim of the run is to raise public awareness of organ donation and organ transplants. Despite an extremely positive attitude towards organ donation, with 84% of the population supporting the idea, only 36% of Germans possess an organ donor card. As a result, around 9,000 patients wait in vain for a donor organ every year, and up to three people die on the waiting lists every day.

The €15 entry fee will be paid by the university.
€5 will be donated to social organizations working in the field of organ transplants.

Organization/dates/deadlines:
Date: Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Meeting point: Old Beverage Technology Center (GTZ) at 3:00 pm
Finish: Old GTZ, at approx. 5:00 om, with a small closing ceremony
Races: You have the option to choose between 2.5 km walking, 5 km running or 10 km running

Registration deadline: March 30, 2025

Please send registrations by email to Bernd Lindemann.
If you have any other queries, please contact the health management team or Hochschulsport(at)hs-gm.de.

Anna Caroline Burger on Taking Part in the DHM Apparatus Gymnastics Championships in Bielefeld

January 24-25, 2025: DHM Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Bielefeld

Anna bravely registered to compete in the German University Championships for apparatus gymnastics as an individual entry, and did a fantastic job representing Hochschule Geisenheim University. Congratulations Anna!

Anna's Report:

The day of the competition I woke up knowing that I'd not be able to perform to the best of my ability; I'd caught a nasty flu the week before and didn't yet feel fully recovered. I still decided to go to enjoy the feeling and with the hope that I'd be able to perform at least one routine.

When my competition time started at around 7:00 pm, I warmed up and decided I was fit enough to do the first apparatus, the parallel bars, and would then see how it went from there. Parallel bars is the apparatus I'm most nervous about in competitions, as something always goes wrong. However, the atmosphere throughout the hall was excellent, with everybody cheering everyone else on and the stage full of happy, celebrating students.

My parallel bars routine actually went really well – it wasn't perfect, but I didn't fall and was pleased with what I did. After the parallel bars, I decided to do beam as well, which was also a success. It was quite a difficult routine and I'm never really sure if I'm going to get everything right. But despite all the circumstances, I managed it, didn't fall and was so proud of myself. I ended up thinking it would be stupid to stop now after my routines had been going so well, so carried on.

I also performed solidly on my floor routine, and it was a lot of fun to have so many spectators. When the vault went really well afterwards – I even had the 3rd highest score in the competition – I was exhausted, but also extremely happy and proud.

I'd promised myself I wouldn't, whether from disappointment or by hurting myself, and that I'd have fun, and I'm pleased to say I kept my promise!

Overall, I came 10th in the individual ranking, which is a result that I'm very proud of.

All in all, it was a great experience and something that I would love to do again. Unfortunately I can't take part this summer, but will hopefully have time to compete next year!
