Scholarship and Funding Possibilities for International Students

Although there are no tuition fees for students at Geisenheim University, you should calculate a minimum of € 720 per month for general living expenses. There are a number of scholarship programs and funding possibilities available, but these must be applied for well before the beginning of the degree course.

There are different requirements to fulfil, depending on the scholarship program; some programs require a very good level of German language, while others ask for good grades or some kind of social commitment. All of the programs, however, are interested in students who apply independently and in good time. Most scholarships are only open to Master’s and PhD students, who have already proved themselves academically.

Germany Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium)

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research introduced the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship program in the winter semester of 2011, laying the foundation for the establishment of a strong, new scholarship culture in Germany.  It represents a fourth, strong pillar of student finance, alongside BAföG, needs-based student loans and scholarships awarded by organizations for the promotion of young talent.

Scholarship holders receive 300 Euros per month (€150 from the Federal Government and €150 from private sponsors) for a period of two semesters – the grant amounts to a total of 3 600 Euros per annum.
