How are different beer styles created, and which role do regional brewing traditions play?
For the first time at Hochschule Geisenheim University’s Beverage Technology Centre, Felix Baumgartner introduced staff and visitors to the history and production of German and other European beers and gave an insight into why the art of brewing always begins with malting.
Participants explored ingredients and traditional recipes, carefully examining and tasting samples along the way. The workshop offered hands-on experience of the close connection between craft, flavour and regional identity – themes that are also central to the programme of European university alliance EU-GIFT.
