The Doctoral Committee oversees and makes decisions on key stages of the doctoral process. Its members are elected by the Senate of Hochschule Geisenheim University.
Composition
During the fourth term of office (through September 30, 2026), the Doctoral Committee consists of:
- the Vice President for Research (Chair)
- three professors
- two academic staff members who hold a doctoral degree
- one representative of the doctoral candidates, with a deputy and an advisory vote
Responsibilities
The Doctoral Committee is primarily responsible for:
- admission to the doctoral process and decisions on applications
- appointment of reviewers and supervisors
- review of annual progress reports
- appointment of the examination committee
- coordination with partner universities, where required
Meetings and Deadlines
The Doctoral Committee generally meets twice per semester. Applications must be submitted no later than two weeks before the respective meeting.
