Most of us will certainly have experienced the legendary „Airplanes in the Stomach“. But why then do we have the smell of kerosene in our noses when we taste Riesling wines? Given the fact that there is hardly any vintner who is a pilot at the same time there must be another explanation for this phenomenon. And it is this very phenomenon indicated by the acronym TDN (which stands for 1,1,6,-Trimethyl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene) that has been in the focus of recent research by experts of Hochschule Geisenheim University.  What exactly is behind this aroma component that is so important for Riesling wines can be experienced by visitors with their "own noses" under this year´s motto "Challenge your Senses" at the ProWein trade fair.
