A delegation from the Wiesbaden/Rheingau-Taunus district association of Europa-Union Deutschland e.V., a nonpartisan, non-governmental organization that advocates European Integration, led by chairman Peter H. Niederelz, recently visited Hochschule Geisenheim University.
The group was welcomed at the university by Robert Lönarz, who is not only responsible for university relations at the university but also serves as president of the VEG Geisenheim Alumni Association.
During a tour of the campus and subsequent wine tasting, Lönarz discussed the history and development of the university and of global viticulture, explaining how wine is not just a drink, but a cultural asset. This cultural element makes the university’s international reputation all the more significant. Graduates from Geisenheim are active workers in the wine industry all over the world. For connoisseurs in Australia and South Africa, Geisenheim is even a more familiar location than Frankfurt.
After the tour and tasting, the participants had a chance to relax in Uni-Keller space. Peter Niederelz thanked Robert Lönarz on behalf of the Europa-Union and announced that his next guest in Wiesbaden would be the new Chinese Ambassador H.E. Deng Hongbo. If time permits, he hopes to visit Hochschule Geisenheim University with him, which is also well known in China, according to Niederelz.
