At its conference in late August, the International Society of Chemical Ecology (ISCE) honored Professor Jürgen Gross with the Applied Chemical Ecology Award 2025 in recognition of his pioneering research on plant-pest interactions.

The award is presented to ecologists whose work makes a substantial impact on the development of practical solutions in chemical ecology. Hochschule Geisenheim University warmly congratulates Professor Gross on this distinguished achievement.

Since March 2024, Professor Gross has headed the Department of Plant Protection in Fruit Growing and Viticulture at the Julius Kühn Institute in Dossenheim. Concurrently, he was appointed Professor of Biotechnical Plant Protection in Fruit Growing and Viticulture at Hochschule Geisenheim University.

His research focuses on innovative, sustainable strategies for crop protection, particularly the use of pheromones and other semiochemicals as environmentally friendly alternatives to chemical pesticides.
