High-Ranking Hungarian Delegation Visits Hochschule Geisenheim University

On June 25, 2025, Geisenheim University was delighted to welcome a high-ranking delegation from Hungary, led by István Jakab, Vice President of the Hungarian National Assembly. He was accompanied by Tibor Cseh (Chief of Staff), Beatrix Kese (Deputy Head of the Foreign Affairs Office of the National Assembly), and Erika Hambuch (interpreter).

As part of the visit, the delegation was welcomed in the ‘Unikeller’ with light refreshments and a sparkling wine reception organized by the VEG-Geisenheim Alumni Association e.V.

The initial reception concluded with a group photo and welcome remarks by Consul General Gergő Péter Szilágyi and Robert Lönarz, who is responsible for strategic university relations, alumni, and fundraising. The President of Geisenheim University, Professor Hans Reiner Schultz was also there to officially welcome the guests. 

The reception was followed by expert discussions with Professor Moritz Wagner on the sustainable use of resources in specialty crops.

Highlights of the visit included a tour of the AgriPV facility and the presentation of the new European research project HydroSoilWise, in which Geisenheim’s Institute of Vegetable Crops is involved.

Also taking part in the visit were Magdolna Prantner (Knowledge Transfer) and Professor of Market Research Gergely Szolnoki.

“Many thanks – especially for the wonderful program. It was truly a pleasure, as always,” praised Consul General Gergő Szilágyi at the conclusion of the visit.
