Scientists around the world are concerned with the sustainable use of resources and the protection of biodiversity. Climate change also has a particularly strong impact on biodiversity.

But can climate protection and nature conservation go hand in hand? How can we network with other researchers on these issues and work together across disciplines to find answers to today's challenges?

These were the questions addressed by 21 international participants from Geisenheim, Gießen and Bordeaux during this year’s BIODIVERSITY Summer School which took place from September 11-15, 2023 on Geisenheim Campus.

The program combined plenary lectures and extensive interaction with leading scientists to create synergies in solutions and foster transdisciplinary collaboration. Morning keynotes, open to the university community, set the focus for the day and provided participants with an intensive discussion on topics such as ecosystem services, agrobiodiversity and social transformation. Interactive workshops complemented the academic activities, as well as an attractive social program that allowed the young scientists to exchange ideas and network on an international level after the pandemic-related break.

This was the 3rd Summer School organized by the Graduate School of Hochschule Geisenheim University with support of the French-German Graduate School and the University of Bordeaux.
