Professorship for Construction Technology in Landscape Architecture

Professorship for Construction Technology in Landscape Architecture

In the first semesters of the degree program “Landscape Architecture”, Prof. Dr. Thon’s students learn how to plan and build streets and public squares, including walls and staircases. In the following semesters students will learn about skeleton architecture and different types of solid construction. In special types of solid construction, we focus on planning, building and maintaining natural swimming pools, fully automatic irrigation systems and lighting design.

Our degree program is practice-oriented and innovative. We want to ensure that our students make the most of their time in the classroom. Professors and teachers use various academic methods, including excursions, experiments and real construction projects to pass on their knowledge.

In order to successfully plan and build a building of any kind it is necessary for students to know about the different sorts of construction materials. Prof. Dr. A. Thon has a comprehensive collection to show the students which construction materials are most commonly used. Outdoor areas of Hochschule Geisenheim University are used as an “outdoor classroom” to demonstrate different construction techniques.
