The Recruitment Process

Welcome to Hochschule Geisenheim University

You will soon be starting as a member of scientific staff at Hochschule Geisenheim University. In order to prepare, please follow the steps below.

1. Forms to be completed before starting your new position

Please fill out and sign the following forms and submit them to the HR & HR Development department prior to starting your new position.

Once saved to your device, the forms can be completed digitally.

Please note: Unfortunately, we can only currently provide these forms in German. However, we are in the process of translating them into English and hope to have the translations available as soon as possible. If you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch with your contact in the HR & HR Development department.

1. Personnel Form, together with the Declaration Regarding Court Sentences, Disciplinary Measures and Ongoing Proceedings, as well as the Annex to the Personnel Form
2. Questionnaire for the assessment of social insurance obligations (only to be submitted for part-time employment)
3. ELStAM (electronic wage tax deduction information procedure form)*
4. Secondary employment declaration/application (if you don't have any other job, please submit only the first page)
5. Child benefits declaration
6. Bank account details
7. Determination of term duration per WissZeitVG

* You can request your tax ID number (steuerliche Identifikationsnummer) for the ELStAM form at your local tax office (Finanzamt).

In addition, please apply for an official certificate of good conduct (Führungszeugnis) at your local German registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt) ahead of time. Please request a 'type O' certificate to be sent to the following address:

The application fees for this certificate unfortunately cannot be reimbursed.

 


2. Documents required on your first day

Please bring the following documents with you in original to your appointment with the HR & HR Development department.

1. Your academic certificates (school graduation certificates, bachelor's/master's degree certificates, doctoral certificates, apprenticeship certificates, references from previous employers, etc.)
2. Your birth certificate and, if applicable, your marriage certificate and/or the birth certificate(s) of your child(ren)
3. Confirmation of health insurance (Mitgliedsbescheinigung der Krankenkasse)
4. Social security ID (Sozialversicherungsausweis)
5. Disability certificate (with the details of the disability blacked out), if applicable
6. Residence and work permits, if applicable
7. Certificate of prior work in the public sector, if applicable
8. Application for capital-forming benefits program, if applicable

3. Information to be read and formally acknowledged

Employees are required to read the following information before their appointment with the HR & HR Development department and provide a formal acknowledgement for each document stating that they have read and understood its content.

The acknowledgement forms can be found on the first page of each document. Please complete, sign and submit these forms to the HR & HR Development department in advance or provide them on your first day, at the latest.

1. Decree of Hesse's Ministry of the Interior and Sport on the formal commitment of non-Beamten (Commitment Act) of May 21 2015 and Record of the formal obligation under Section 1 (1)-(3) of the Commitment act as well as an excerpt from the German Criminal Code
2. Directive of the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sport on preventing and combating corruption in the public administration of the State of Hesse of November 18, 2019
3. Administrative regulation for state employees on accepting and receiving rewards, gifts and other benefits
4. Instruction on loyalty to the constitution for the civil service
5. Declaration of acknowledgement and consent to the Telecommunications Directive of the State of Hesse and the Directive on the official and private use of telecommunications equipment in the state administration (Telecommunications Directive)
6. Principles for safeguarding good scientific practice
7. Application for exemption from compulsory insurance
8. Information brochure on company pension schemes (VBL) in the public sector in German/English

It is not necessary to print these documents in full. However, we would request that you download and save each file for your personal documents. 

 


4. Additional information to be read and saved

The following files should be read through carefully and saved for your personal documents before your appointment with the HR & HR Development department on your first day. Printing these files is not necessary for your appointment.
