Evaluating kc-values of aspargus and tolerance of white asparagus' cultivars to drought

Irrigation experiment with Asparagus in Ingelheim
Irrigation experiment with Asparagus in Ingelheim

Period of the experiment
2012 - 2018

The impact of different levels of water supply on quantity and quality of the spear yield is to be determined. The different levels of water supply are realized by different kc-values using the FAO 56 method.

The cultivars 'Gijnlim' and 'Backlim' (Limgroup, NL) are used in this experiment because they are expected to differ in tolerance to drought stress. The influence of the different levels of water supply is additionally determined by measuring predawn leaf water potential.

It is aimed at evaluating kc-values under central European conditions and to optimize the water supply according to the demand of the different cultivars.
