Woody ornamentals play a prominent role in public green spaces because of their distinctive shapes and many other functions. At the same time, they are exposed to a variety of stress factors in urban locations. The approach of this work area is to deal with integrated woody plants over their entire life span. This includes the production of trees in the nursery with the help of innovative methods, the planting and establishment of trees and shrubs in extreme locations with high stress levels and the subsequent care, as well as the inspection or control of the woody plants from a mechanical point of view. One focus is on the interactions of woody plants with associated microorganisms, e.g. Mycorrhizal fungi.
