Study Organization & Examinations Office

The Study Organization and Examinations Office (short: “StoP”, pruefungsverwaltung(at) is your first source of information for any questions about exams, degree program timelines, grades and results, examination regulations, curricula etc.

In particular, the team is responsible for:

  • Information on examinations: schedules, registration periods etc.
  • Degree program timelines, modules and curricula
  • Grades and results
  • Recognition of achievements and credits earned in previous programs
  • Registration for thesis and colloquium (final oral exam)
  • Issuing certificates and transcripts of records

Please note that you have to register within the indicated registration period. It is not possible to register after the end of the deadline.
Please keep in mind that registration periods can also expire on weekends.

General Information

Assessment Regulation

The General Provisions for Assessment Regulations (ABPO) are the provisions which are relevant to all degree programs at Hochschule Geisenheim University, and take precedence over the Special Provisions for Assessment Regulations (BBPO) set out by the individual degree programs. The Special Provisions for Assessment Regulations determine the regulation of the examining process within the degree programs and can be found in the degree program information.

Duties and Information

The Examination Committee holds regular meetings to decide about the recognition of academic achievements and admission to examinations. 

In addition, the committee is responsible for the following requests: 

  • Request for final examination attempt to be taken as an oral exam → information
  • Withdrawal from elective-compulsory and optional modules → information
  • Thesis extension → information
  • Academic adjustments

Requests must be submitted in writing (e-mail or letter) to the Chair of the Examination Committee. No special form is required. For more information and support, please contact your degree program administrator in the Examinations Office (for contact details see "Specific information about your degree program").

Academic Calendar

Lecture periods and exam dates are determined by the Senate of Hochschule Geisenheim University.

You can find an overview of the lecture periods on the right.

Recognition of academic achievements

Please check the curriculum of your program and contact the coordinator of the module that you would like to get recognized.

Required documents:

  • Completed application form. Missing information will be added by the instructor who is responsible for the module
  • Final examination certificate
  • Transcript of Records if you haven’t completed your previous study program
  • Module descriptions of the achievements you want to have recognized

The module coordinator reviews and signs the documents before they are forwarded to the Study Organization & Examination Office. In a final step, the chair of the examination committee of your degree program reviews and signs off on your application. Your achievements are then officially recognized and entered into QIS.

Examinations (registration, notification in case of illness, attempted cheating)

The rules for registering for and cancelling exams, reporting illness, and general rules of conduct during exams are established by the Examinations Committee and apply to all programs.
