Hochschule Geisenheim University Calls for Donations to Support Partner University in Chernivtsi/Ukraine

Hochschule Geisenheim University and the Yuriy Fedkovych National University in Chernivtsi (Ukraine) have been cooperating since January 2022 to enable the exchange of knowledge and technology in research and teaching. Serhij Lukanjuk, Head of the International Office, and some of his colleagues will be visiting Hochschule Geisenheim University in mid-March to get to know the campus and the staff. In this context, Hochschule Geisenheim University has launched a fundraising campaign for the Ukrainian Bukovina region and calls for monetary and in-kind donations. Serhij Lukanjuk and his team will be bringing donated goods back to their home region which is located on the northern slopes of the Eastern Carpathians close to the Romanian border. A list of much-needed items and information on the drop-off locations can be found below.

Money can be donated to the joint initiative of the German-Ukrainian Cultural Association "Zentrum Gedankendach" and the Institute for German Culture and History of Southeast Europe (IKGS) at the University of Munich (LMU), which was set up by our Ukrainian colleagues and friends led by Oxana Matiychuk and Serhij Lukanjuk.

The money will be used for medical and humanitarian supplies such as warm clothing or power generators. You can donate via Paypal or bank transfer to the following account. Call for in-kind donations

In addition to monetary donations, we are collecting much-needed items until March 10, 2023, which will be delivered to the Bukovina Aid of the Yuriy Fedkovych National University in Chernivtsi. All donations will go to displaced persons in Bukovina, war-affected people throughout Ukraine and people along the front lines in eastern and southeastern Ukraine.

Much-needed items include:

Foot and hand warmers, sleeping bags, power banks, generators, warm clothes (underwear, fleece jackets, gloves, hats, tube scarves, etc.), various batteries, flashlights. We accept new and used items that are clean and in good condition.

Food donations are also welcome. Please pay attention to the shelf life and do not donate any perishable food. Canned goods and ready-to-eat mealsin plastic containers or bags (e.g. "Fünf-Minuten Terrine")that can be prepared with water are very appreciated. Emergency food for crisis regions (e.g. "NRG 5") or military field rations ("Meal, Ready-to-Eat") can also be donated.
