General Information

Assessment Regulations

The General Provisions for Assessment Regulations (ABPO) comprise the binding provisions for examination regulations for all degree programs at Hochschule Geisenheim University. It also includes Special Provisions for Assessment Regulations (BBPO) that are specific to each degree program. In cases of doubt, the ABPO takes precedence over the program-specific regulations provided in the BBPO.

The BBPO for the degree programs (Prüfungsordnung, or Assessment Regulations) define the framework conditions for assessments within the given degree program. They regulate the examination procedure and requirements. You can find the BBPO for your degree program by following the relevant link in the ‘Specific Degree Program Information’ section below.

Recognition of Academic Achievements

Please check your degree program's curriculum and contact the instructor of the module that you would like to get recognized.

Required documents:

  • Completed application form – the missing information will be added by the module instructor
  • Final examination certificate
  • Transcript of Records (if you haven’t completed your previous study program)
  • Module descriptions of the achievements you want to have recognized

The module instructor reviews and signs the documents before they are forwarded to the Study Organization and Examinations Office. In a final step, the chair of the Examination Committee for your degree program will review and sign off on your application. Your achievements are then officially recognized and entered into QIS.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with the contact person for your degree program in the Examinations Office team.

Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

In order to be entitled to accommodations, students must provide evidence of a long-term impairment that meets the criteria of a disability. Universities are generally guided by the definition of disability given in § 2 (1) of the German Social Code (SGB IX). Increasingly, reference is also being made to the definition of disability in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

A certified health impairment or officially recognized disability by itself does not entitle an individual to accommodations. The decisive factor is how the impairment or disability impacts an individual's studies. (Source: Deutsches Studierendenwerk)

You can find more information on this topic and an application form in the ‘Information on Accommodations’ document.

  • For advice regarding accommodations, please contact Dr. Eszter Geberth (Eszter.Geberth@hs-gm.de).
  • If you want to submit an application for accommodations, please contact your Examination Committee or your degree program's contact person on the Examinations Office team.
Examination Committees

The Examination Committees are responsible for monitoring compliance with the assessment regulations (Prüfungsordnungen) of the degree programs. The committees hold regular meetings to decide, among other things, about applications, examination admissions (thesis, colloquium), examination boards, cases of cheating or attempted cheating, accommodations, granting exam inspections, and the recognition of previous grades.

To learn more, please see the section of the ABPO titled 4.2: Examination Committees.

Applications to the Examination Committees can be sent via e-mail or post to the Chair of the Examination Committee for your degree program and to the contact person for your degree program in the Examinations Office.
