Developing Tools to Assess the Economic Impact of Wine Regions: Geisenheim Scientist Takes the Lead

Last year, the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to join forces in the field of wine tourism. The main objective of this cooperation is to develop a tool to estimate the economic importance of wine regions.  Within the cooperation, Germany is represented by the Geisenheim scientist and OIV delegate Prof. Dr. Gergely Szolnoki. On the basis of a publication on wine tourism, published in 2020 by Dr. Maximilian Tafel and Prof. Dr. Gergely Szolnoki, members of the group aim to develop a model to assess the economic impact.
