A delegation from Hochschule Geisenheim University recently visited China.

The cooperation concluded in 2018 between the Wine School of the University of Ningxia (an autonomous region located south of Mongolia) and Hochschule Geisenheim University was strengthened further in September 2019. A five-member delegation from Geisenheim, led by Professor Monika Christmann, Head of the Department of Enology travelled to China for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is to establish and support an exchange of students and lecturers within the field of student and academic affairs. Indentifying areas where joint research projects can be carried out will also help to expand the scientific cooperation between the two universities.

China is quickly moving from a wine-importing to a wine-producing country: the past five years alone have seen an extensive number of new wineries of various sizes being established. Ningxia is among the most promising of China's seven wine-growing regions and is now home to many attractive, technologically advanced wineries. As well wine production, the Chinese state is also funding and nurturing a growing wine tourism industry.
