The University’s Self-Governing Bodies

Following rules set out in the Hessian University Laws Hessisches Hochschulgesetz (HHG), various self-governing bodies are charged with the development of the university, and include, in particular, the Senate and the Supervisory Board.

The Senate consists of nine professors, five students and five university employees. It deliberates and makes decisions regarding research, teaching and study.

The Supervisory Board consults the university on its development in the areas of teaching, studying and research. The university appoints seven respected personalities from business and scientific areas for service on the Supervisory Board.
