The department K3 IT/Data Center operates the central IT and communicational infrastructure at Geisenheim University. The tasks are organized into the following branches:
The IT-Service provides all students and the staff with a single point of contact for all questions concerning the HSGM account, e-mail, network and telephone.
The central server services provide both university- and departmental-wide systems. Maintenance and availability of the systems are just as much a part of the tasks as the protection of the systems and data in accordance with the security guidelines (see also: >Data protection supervisor).
The Network Operation Center (NOC) plans, expands and monitors the network infrastructure on the campus.
The IT-procurement supports HGU's organizational units in purchasing IT hardware and software for a reliable and homogeneous IT landscape. It also manages the central licenses and procures IT equipment on behalf of the university administration and institutes.
