VINOEURO 2020 Czech Republic Postponed until 2021

[Translate to English:] In Zeiten von COVID-19 - Videokonferenz mit acht Nationen

The UENFW European Winemakers Football Championship (VINOEURO) in the Czech Republic planned for May 19-23, 2020 has been rescheduled for next year due to the changed conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The presidents of the eight participating European nations decided this unanimously via video conference last Saturday. "It was certainly not easy for all of us to postpone our sportive and friendly meeting in the Czech Republic, but the co-responsibility for the containment of the Corona pandemic has united everyone for such a decision", says UENFW President Robert Lönarz. The new date has been fixed for May 18 - 22, 2021. The Czech main organizer Martin Chlad and his motivated partners and sponsors will now start a new planning for 2021. Unfortunately, this cancellation also affects the viticultural conference on "ESCA", which would have been part of VINOEURO for the first time, and the visit of the University of Brno by students of Hochschule Geisenheim University.

The UENFW - Union of European national football teams of winemakers e.V. is an association under German law, founded in Slovenia, with founding members from eight European nations who wish to present wine, football and education united as a common cultural asset in Europe. Every two years the football teams, which are mainly made up of renowned winemakers, take part in a VINOEURO. Two halves are dedicated to the very remarkable sporting achievements of the winegrowers, and the third half is dedicated to top-class wine in moderation and culinary delights.
