Longer Shelf-Life Thanks to a "Dynamic" Expiration Date?
For shoppers, the expiration date on food products is an important guide because it helps them to know if they are fit for consumption. Food that has gone past the expiration date may no longer be sold. In private households, confusion over the importance of the date often results in food going to waste, even though in many cases, it has not gone off. In an interview with the Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (Bundesvereinigung der Deutschen Ernährungsindustrie - BVE), Professor Judith Kreyenschmidt spoke about a "dynamic" use-by date.
