2022 DAAD Award presented to Viticulture Student Andreas Grell Gudiksen

The 2022 DAAD Award worth EUR 1,000 has been awarded to our M.Sc. Viticulture, Enology and Wine Business student Andreas Grell Gudiksen. Prof. Dr. Alexander von Birgelen, Vice-President of Academic & Student Affairs presented the award as part of the first-semester welcome on October 17, 2022.

The Awards Committee voted for Gudiksen in recognition of his outstanding social commitment that he had already demonstrated over the course of his completed B.Sc. Viticulture and Enology program. Since 2019, he has been working for the integration project “hand in hand” organized by Caritas Geisenheim. He is actively involved in individual language and learning support for socially disadvantaged young people with and without a refugee background. During the pandemic, he kept in touch with students by offering digital tutoring. In addition, he set up a computer repair workshop with refugees. Hochschule Geisenheim University honors his extraordinary commitment with the 2022 DAAD Award.

The DAAD Award has been awarded for over 10 years now across Germany. It aims to make the large number of international students at German universities more visible and highlight the role they play for our community. At Hochschule Geisenheim University, the award has been presented annually since 2016.
