University president Prof. Dr. Hans Reiner Schultz: “The compatibility of family and study or career is one of our primary concerns and thus forms an integral part of our university development strategy.”

Hochschule Geisenheim University supports students and staff to help them achieve the best possible balance between their academic or professional careers and the needs of their families. It promotes family-oriented working conditions and helps students with family commitments to complete their studies as quickly as possible. In order to reaffirm this objective, Prof. Dr. Hans Reiner Schultz has now signed the Familie in der Hochschule charta initiated by the association of the same name.

Prof. Dr. Hans Reiner Schultz: “The compatibility of family and study or career is one of our primary concerns and thus forms an integral part of our university development strategy.” He adds that “particularly in view of demographic change we consider it absolutely vital to further expand the existing range of services provided by our Family Services Office. We want to increase the acceptance and recognition of family responsibilities among all members of the university.”

By signing the charta, Hochschule Geisenheim University in its role as opinion leader is also underlining its social commitment to promote respect for diversity and the family in all its different forms.  For its own students and staff the university provides a range of services, target group specific information and a protected space for mutual exchange.

Since 2016 Hochschule Geisenheim University has held the status of “Family-Friendly University of the State of Hessen” in recognition of its efforts in this area. In May 2018, following an intensive recertification process at the beginning of the year, the quality seal was granted for a further four years.
