In addition to the need for practical support and relief supplies, students and colleagues who are affected by the war in Ukraine have told our university that one thing is of key importance to them: They want their voices to be heard internationally. That is why Hochschule Geisenheim University hosts a round table discussion on April 28, 2022 starting at 6:00 pm in the Gerd-Erbslöh lecture hall and via live stream. Anyone who is interested is invited to join the event.

Members of the university will talk about joint activities between Hochschule Geisenheim University and its partner universities and look into the personal situation of their partners in Ukraine. Ukrainian students who live in Geisenheim at the moment will present their country and culture. Colleagues from Ukraine will join the event online to give a first-hand account of their daily life during the war. For instance, they will talk about how they are trying to keep up university operations and how a German-Ukrainian science center has turned into an aid organization

Hochschule Geisenheim University has close ties with Ukraine: There are active cooperations in research and teaching with six Ukrainian universities in Kyiv, Odesa, Czernowitz and Lviv. For many years, there has been a regular exchange of students and Hochschule Geisenheim University is hosting several Ukrainian students at the moment.

Because of these close ties and in view of the suffering in Ukraine, Hochschule Geisenheim University has recently launched its campaign “Geisenheim hilft! Ukraine“.
