Research Centers of Hochschule Geisenheim University

The „Center of Applied Biology“ is made up of the Departments of Soil Science & Plant Nutrition, Botany, Phytomedicine and Grapevine Breeding.

The departments which deal with cultivation (General & Organic Viticulture, Pomology, Vegetable Crops, Viticultural/Horticultural Engineering) are organised into the „Center of Viticulture & Horticulture“. This structure allows for the development of synergies, for example in the management of the outdoor and greenhouse growing areas, which are beneficial for both research and academic purposes.

In the „Center of Wine Science & Beverage Processing Technology“ are the Departments of Enology, Modeling & Systems Analysis as well as Beverage Processing Technology & Food Safety.

The „Center of Analytical Chemistry & Microbiology“ is made up of the Departments of Microbiology & Biochemistry, Wine Chemistry & Beverage Research and Chemistry & Sensory Evaluation of Plant-Based Food Products.

The Departments of Business Administration & Market Research and Management & Marketing are found in the „Center of Economics“.

In a new research center, the „Center of Landscape Architecture & urban Horticulture“, we have brought together the activities of the Departments of Urban Horticulture & Ornamental Plant Research, Open Space Planning, Vegetation Technology & Landscaping and Environmental Conservation & Assessment to form a particularly innovative center.

The close proximity of our scientists (professors, research scientists, scientific assistants, doctoral students) and our technical and administrative staff within these research centers, ensures constantly improving interdisciplinary research methods as well as further beneficial synergy effects.
