What we offer

The Pre-Study project offers support and orientation to prospective international students during their first steps in the new environment of Hochschule Geisenheim University. Beginning to study and to live in a new environment can often be a challenge, so Geisenheim University has put together an interdisciplinary team who can give you advice and answers regarding your preparation for studying one of our Bachelor degree courses. The participation is free of charge!

  • We will help you to organise the obligatory pre-study internship placement (the required “Vorpraktikum” for up to 26 weeks) in Geisenheim or the surrounding area e.g. in an appopriate company. Where possible, the organisations will provide you with financial support in the form of a payment or by paying your board and lodgings at the internship location.
  • During the internship you’ll receive support from student mentors who’ll help you organise your day-to-day life. The student mentors offer a consultation-hour, a regulars' table and other activities.
  • You will receive targeted language training from Geisenheim University's Language Center to increase your German language knowledge from Level B1 (CEFR) to Level B2, which is a requirement for studying the German-taught degree courses at Geisenheim.
  • Participants can apply for a special scholarship (250 Euro per month during the first year of studies)
  • In addition the “Pre-Study” team can offer you assistance in all matters related to residence permits, insurance, accommodation, financing (through part-time jobs or grants) and university admission.
